Students who have declared a major in any of the Biological Sciences programs require advising and must meet with their advisor prior to registration each semester to determine their classes. (An advising hold will be in place until this step is complete.)

Students will be matched to a faculty mentor based on their major, track, research, pre-professional or career interests, after completing entry level courses in their major.

Use the resources below to find and schedule appointments with your advisor and faculty mentor.

Find Your Advisor & Faculty Mentor

myNKU - Click 'My Records' and view the 'My Advisors' tab.
SSC Navigate - Click 'Get Advising' and follow the prompts to schedule with your advisor.

Special Considerations

If you have recently transferred to NKU Biological Sciences from another institution, contact Lynn Crane.
If you are a current NKU student who would like to newly declare a major with Biological Sciences, contact Heleen Giesbers.
If you are a current NKU student within Biological Sciences and have not been assigned an academic advisor, contact Lynn Crane or Heleen Giesbers.

Schedule an Advising Appointment

Schedule an appointment with your advisor by any of the following methods:

Call or email them directly, OR
Visit them during office hours (which are usually posted near their office), OR
Schedule a meeting in SSC Navigate. (Once logged in, click 'Get Advising' and follow the prompts to schedule with your advisor.)
